1. How does the Refer-a-Friend program work?
- You can share your unique referral link with friends who are new to Prosper. If your friend applies through your link, gets approved, and opens a new credit card account, you can earn a statement credit. The specific reward you're eligible for is shown in your referral invitation.
2. How do I become eligible to refer friends?
- To qualify to refer friends, you need to be an active cardholder with an account in good standing. This generally means your account has been open for at least 12 months, you've made at least 3 successful payments, and you have had no payment reversals in the last 12 months. If you're eligible, you'll find your unique referral link in your online account (app and/or web/mobile) or in an email invitation from us.
3. What does my friend need to do for the referral to be successful?
- To be eligible, your friend must be entirely new to Prosper and cannot have any existing Prosper products. The most important step is that they must use your unique referral link to apply. If they apply any other way, the referral won't be tracked. After they apply through your link, their application just needs to be approved and they need to accept their offer to open the account.
4. Why haven't I received my referral bonus?
- The bonus is paid out only after your friend meets all the requirements—meaning they've applied with your link, been approved, and opened their new account. After all of that is done, there is a 60-day processing period before the statement credit appears on your account. If it's been longer than that, I can certainly investigate for you.
5. How is the referral bonus paid out?
- The referral bonus is paid as a statement credit directly to your Prosper credit card account. It will appear on your statement after all the requirements have been met and the standard 60-day processing time has passed.
6. Will my friend also get a bonus?
- That depends on the specific offer you were sent. Some offers give the full bonus to you as the referrer, while others split it between you and your friend. If the offer was a shared bonus, your friend would receive their statement credit on the same timeline as you, after their account is opened and in good standing.
7. Is there a limit to how many people I can refer or how much I can earn?
- You can share your link with as many friends as you like! However, there is a limit to the number of bonuses you can receive. You are eligible to earn a maximum of 5 referral bonuses per calendar year.
8. My friend forgot to use my link. Can you manually credit me?
- I understand, but unfortunately, for the referral to be tracked correctly, the application must be submitted through the unique referral link from the very beginning. We are not able to manually add a referral to an application that has already been submitted. I know that's not ideal, but the system requires the link to be used from the start.
9. Why isn't my referral link working anymore?
- There are a couple of reasons that might happen. Your unique link has a limit of 50 successful, new accounts that can be opened with it per calendar year. If you've reached that limit, the link will automatically redirect to our homepage. It's also possible that at the time your friend tried to apply, your account was temporarily ineligible to make referrals. If that status changes, your link would become active again.
10. How do I know if my account is eligible to make referrals?
- To refer friends, you'll need an active Prosper card account in good standing, open for at least 12 months with 3 or more payments, and no payment reversals in the past 12 months. If these requirements aren't met, the referral program won't be visible.
11. Can you tell me the status of my friend’s application?
- Due to financial privacy policies and our strict commitment to customer confidentiality, we are unable to share any details about another person's application status. This policy is in place to protect your friend's information, just as we protect yours. Rest assured, if your referral is successful and all program requirements are met, the bonus will be applied to your account.
